Gosh, ... my last reel has been quite a while ago, as lots of good stuff happened: keeping myself busy with NINDUSTRICT, as a design & motion studio focused in Type 'n' Motion also as a production house and following new approaches and experiments with especially Letters Are My Friends on Type & Tech since 2011, plus becoming a teacher at ZHDK in Zürich, I did just not find the time.

The selection of works cut-up in the clip are projects I worked on during the last two years:

including a Surreal Dancing Show at the Strip of Las Vegas, NV, here colaborating with Lichtfront from Cologne, TocaMe Trailer 2009 together with Strukt from Vienna, some animations for the frisbee-freestylemagazine featuring Marc Eley from Eley Kishimoto Company, London and a lot of personal experimental snippets developped for fun and by just doing.

Visual Music: Rhythmic Data Scapes

Conceptual film projects / Vertr.Prof. at Fh Münster, 2015

In our Sommersemester 2015 at FH Münster, I got the change to do an interimistic professorship (Vertretungsprofessur) for audiovisual media design. Next to the type ’n’motion module, which was also talking place (please find the documentation here), I wanted to add something more experimental to the curriculum. So, together with my fantastic collegue Vertr.Prof. Gregor Kuschmirz, with who I shared this teaching unit, we used the great chance to concept a very special audiovisual class module: We called it "Visual Music: Rhythmic Data Scapes".

The trinity of motion picture synced or created to/with rhythm, embedding meaningful data by creating a special context and resulting or working with aesthetically visualized scapes was the aim to reach in 4months. Our inputs were focused on installation art, especially conceptual film who worked with datasets, but also alalysis of infografics and what about data-questions. Next to the theory, it was all about how to operate and proceed a conceptual motion picture project from the very idea to the final audiovisual product, via concept, visualization, about the role of the audience, the context, the viewer in generell and how to come up with strong concepts, topics and data-sets. As a limitation, we brought partitures of famous soundpieces, which should be used as the base dataset for a strong conceptual work. From there it could go anywhere, and it did.

We are very happy that this class worked out that way within our teaching ping - pong. We had some great students, who did really not have an easy time, with this quite complex themes, we had to bring them in. With a pre-defined context of "Doofe Musik" inspired by a curated show of HKW (Haus der Kulturen der Welt) in Berlin, we tried to include aswell some innovative, contemporary teaching concepts. Now, we can tell about inspiring methods and approaches how to deal with this topic combining it with some colaborative didactic aspects by i.e. rotation concepts within the steps to be taken at that point. The group dynamic in this class was very vibrant, even during harder times within each project.

Adam Cq Pro — An animated Typeface

Type & Motion Project at Fh Münster, 2015

ADAM CD PRO - Animated Typeface by Type ’n’ Motion class SS2015 of FH Münster is an colaborative exercise, which results in a complete animated alphabet based on a typeface of Shrenik Ganatra, India. The class was lead and concepted by me, holding a temporary interimistic professorship (Vertretungsprofessor?) for Mediadesign 2015.

Each student (all participants are listed on the right side!) animated 4 glyphs and had to choose a sounddesign for it. There were several rules like position, length, colours, end and start position and of course typeface, which had to be followed.

This exercise aimed to become part of a bigger concept and experience responsibility for a colaborative project. It shows the approach on design as a social process through engagement. Also to give back to a upcoming designer, who had the grace to distribute to the open source culture by uploading and offering a free typeface. Part of the class concept was to surprise the designer with this colabrative proceeded animated alphabet sending the clip, but also the compiled open AE file, which enables to use the animated glyphs for lots of motion products further on.

From spring 2015 on, I had the honor to hold a substitute professorship (Vertretungsprofessur?) for mediadesign with focus on audiovisual design at Fh Münster. Classes I've taught were Type ’n' Motion and Visual Music: Rhythmic Data Scapes. (For lastone I collaborated with my great collegue Vertr.Prof. Gregor Kuschmirz. Please find the documentation here.)

Within the type ’n’ motion class, we went through a lot of methods and tools to create proper motion design pieces including typography in motion, focused on animation products. Some of the students had never touched timebased software before, others were already quite experienced.
We spent february till july together learning about what makes an animation a good animation, and about talking and discussing the field of motion products in general. It was all about exact timing, look & feel, dealing with speed and space in lots of different ways, getting a feeling about how it works to be a professional motion designer in different exercises (like pitch situations or client <> designer-team-roleplays, but also workflows and communication processes within a team), creating moodboards and concepts, know how about the difference of a styleframe and a moodoard, coming up with ideas, drawing storyboards and balancing out what it takes to tell a good story and concept and design a motion product.

It was a great class and we proceeded very well. One of our favourite excercises was collaborating as a class on an animated typeface. Please find the project documented here.

In this clip you see a documentation of the Digital Referenz Scan Recom Art did for Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen with original artworks of famous artist Thomas Hirschhorn.

Recom Art commissioned Katja Oortman and me to direct, produce and create a video about their "Digital Referenz Scan" - a technical process-pipeline for artworks in order to use the resulting file as an exact colour reference for restauration. - This digital reference scan file enables to restore and reconstruct the artwork, especially years later after the original artwork might have changed.

The Magic of "What comes Next"!?

Ever since I was studying, I was happy to make my own decisions and felt a deep creative urge to the freedom and power of self determination. So I never work as a fulltime employee, so far. I never felt like and thank god, I never had to! Somehow I always found new challenges and ways to develop myself and kept myself busy.

It's now more than a decade I work selfemployed in the field of design: in many different positions, with a team and without, for small and big budgets within various creative pipelines in many different fields from classic advertising to brandpositioning over contemporary interaction concepts for events to complex motion design or online workcases, here and abroad from Las Vegas to Vienna to Hamburg, producing and creating design work as a freelancer for agencies and productions and for my own clients, - running Nindustrict and since 2010 Letters Are My Friends aside.

It's not that it was ever boring or not the thing I want to do, actually I always enjoyed my self controlled life that way, but as 2014 a excellent job offer knocked on my door to work as a creative director for an big agency, I thought why not?!

That was the only thing I did not commit to, yet. So I gave it a try - after four assessment rounds and difficult negotiations - a phase of several months to check, how I would like it and to see how I would perform in a fixed everyday structure leading a team of concept designers and designers and a lot of responsibility, budget and ongoing deadlines as a creative director for concept & strategy at zweimaleins, which fused to Saatchi & Saatchi Pro during that time. Together with another creative director I was in charge of all productions running in this company, along side of a big team of accountants and project managers. Great experience!

After loads of interesting concepts for shows, apps, fairs, projects, pitches, decisions running simultaniously, a fantastic team developement, tons of new experiences and new skills in leadership and co., but a summer I did not really have, I started missing my old worklife & -style. It was a hard decision, but I felt an intuitive need for identification and my "homegrown" kind of work, so I decided to go back to my own studio and drop this fulltime employment opportunity and rather continue Nindustrict & Letters Are My Friends. — I continue working for Saatchi & Saatchi Pro on a freelance base. - I'm very grateful and pleased for this great time!

I'm very pleased to do another year of teaching at ZHDK in Zürich!

This time the design department made some space in their curriculum to include an exclusive type 'n' motion module, which could be choosed by 2nd, 4th and 6th year design students. Hence, the backgrounds and expertises of my students were quite different, and covered quite a wide range of design fields. That brought up my challenge: Find a proper deal to impart knowledge, content & techniques of animation, typography & motion suitable for all levels. My 22 students were just amazing! Feel the diversity in our animated alphabet, where every student had to pick one letter and create a concept, storyboard and animation synced to music in less than 3 days.

2013 I was responsible for the product in use cases shot in the TVC "Design your life" of Samsung. Agency Cheil & Vollmilch Commercials commissioned me as an "art director for technology" to direct and prep the new Samsung devices (Galaxy Note 3 + Gear), offer creative App Support for Wim Wenders, Dirk Schönberger and the winner of the Galaxy Fashion Force Competition Corinna Dehn. There was also a version shot only for the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1..

Addiotionally to the TVC and two months earlier in 2013, Samsung Galaxy Fashion Force was created: The format was a webisode (colaborated with Vice), which involved me as an art director for all live product in use-cases and all tech questions with the brandnew devices, during the whole time. POV - Realtime 3D Font Case

Work in progress: experimental animated 3D font, 2013

I created some type in motion generated by changing the parameters of growing and extracting 3D models rendered in a vector look. These experiments shown here give you only a lil taste of what I'm planning.
Actually I want to create the first "real" 3D font & environment.

As Bärbel Bold from Letters Are My Friends, a type & tech oriented concept store & studio in Berlin, I'm researching on 3D animated type in motion cases. Being well familiar with computer generated images in 3D and knowing about the versatile effects you get, when you move the camera perspective on a 3D type, I would love to figure out and dig into this complex fontengineering of a flexible and dynamic 3D font universe.

I was always wondering how an animated 3D font could look like? Why are realtime features and parameters - you get while working in 3D - not included in the typedesigner's software world nowadays?

This clip is a prototyping study for this topic: How could we merge 3D attributes & interactive animation and open up a new approach on typedesign?

In a lot of typefaces there is always the 3D depth layers simulated as a static visual component in i.e. a blockstyle or some shadowing etc..- But what if there would be a way to leave the flatten 2D design of a font? And what if the 3D component would really be an interactive part of a typeface, which could be set up by the designer depending on which perspective he might need right now: the topshot or rather a frogperspective? With heavy shadowing or without?

The aesthetic of this font would rather be sculptural characters than a flat graphic. There should be full access to 3D features by choosing your camera-angle the way you like it.

Within this font there will be a whole 3D character universe technically programmed. - Probably we might need to come up with a software kit.

HELVETICA FOR REAL!

– Happy to talk and lecture in Switzerland, soon!

Some news here: I'm super happy and pleased to tell I'm going to teach at Züricher Hochschule der Künste at the design department March/April 2013.
The interdisciplinary designpraxis-module is embedded in the themes of "Kopie Kultur Kommerz". Together with my co-teacher Nico Lypitkas, we developped a concept which deals with the patterns and filters which are contextualising and referencing a "copy" with an "original". We call our module "Hyperlinked Originals - the art of reference". Exciting! More soon!

I'm also giving a talk about my work, type & motion and my approach on typography at Lucerne University of Applied Science and Arts at the department Kunst & Design. Thanks to Francois Chalet for liking my presentation at ZHDK last december so much, that he was passing me over to Lucerne! What a pleasure! I'm really lookin forward to my trip to switzerland!

Kirsti Maula and I did the creative direction for this publication about the future scenarios of peace keeping for the Center of International Peace Operations!

It's a book called "Peace Operation 2025" which has been released to the audience of peace keepers of the world
on an event in octobre 2012 at the ministre of foreign affairs.

Corporate Design Alignment & Relaunch Case, 2012

StrichPunkt Design commissioned me to showcase their strategic realignment and relaunch of the Vorwerk Group's corporate design in a 2:40 minutes long image clip.

Together with founder Jochen Rädeker, also President of ADC Germany, I worked out the whole structure of content, directed and animated this showcase for StrichPunkt Design.

This clip has been released at the CXI 2012 in Wiesbaden, where Jochen Rädeker and Martin Berger, Executive Vice President Corporate Marketing of Vorwerk presented together this showcase. See the brilliant talk of this both excellent speakers here.

Experimental generative type in motion / use of case, 2012

Therefore Ingo Italic developed "Buchstabengewitter" a generative typography kit using the toolkit vvvv. This dynamic framework transforms three-dimensional linear structures into all the letters of the alphabet, fluidly morphing from one to another. So, each letter is animated. Each letter can be morphed into any glyph of the alphabet. That makes it easy to blend also several words into each other. That was at least the thesis of Letters Are My Friends.

To check and demonstrate if this is true, Bärbel Bold aka me was looking for the proof of case of „Buchstabengewitter“, and shows in a test serie called „weather-proof“ the flexibility and applicability in 4 experimental type in motion cases.

Based on different fonts and motiondesign set-ups she is testing the words 'sunny', 'cloudy', 'rainy' and 'stormy' and trying to archieve readability in the few moments of an ongoing varying mophing letter-set-ups. Watch out for the coloured states of animation! These are the moments, to pick it up.

On top she is adding type in motion generated by a different parametric approach of growing 3D modelsrendered in a vector look.

Based on the idea that the most interesting part of an animation is always the transition from a to b,
Letters Are My Friends are dedicating their latest research on this topic: to push the limits of a readable animated glyph.

Therefore Ingo Italic (aka multitouchberlin) and Bärbel Bold (aka nindustrict) came up with an interactive version of the "Buchstabengewitter" patch - a generative typography kit using the toolkit vvvv. This dynamic framework transforms three-dimensional linear structures into all the letters of the alphabet, fluidly morphing from one to another.
So, each letter is animated. Each letter can be morphed into any glyph of the alphabet by interactively choosing them.
As an extension of the original patch, you could also change the pivot.

I have been commissioned to create an emotional promo for the latest project named "MySkoob" by the famous design agency Strichpunkt.

They asked me to package the corporate identity, they developped for this extensive project, transform the still graphics into motion and to create a sensual feeling of the experience using one of these ebooks:

A combination of enhanced illustrations & photography meets well set typography & text.

I teamed up with my preferred sounddesigner Nikolai von Sallwitz to direct & animate an impression of this really well designed showcase of a series of classic literature.

Moby Dick, Romeo & Juliet, Treasure Island, Robinson Crusoe and many more adventurous masterpieces have been created to release a whole new reading experience within this contemporary format. So for every individual instance, the idea was to transport an own auditive storytelling-feeling without losing the visual track.

For the opening of Letters Are My Friends, Berlin's first typographic concept store where type meets new technology, I created a light installation.
A Set of lasercut letters telling "Letters Are My Friends, where type meets new technology" are rotating on a discoball machine, spotted by 2 lights.

By night (and tough to capture it right in the video), the white reflections of the letters affecting all walls around the installation like a discoball.

Moons is a fixed and permanent light installation in the showroom of Letters Are My Friends in Boppstrasse 7, Kreuzberg-Berlin. Stop by, especially when it's dark.

Letters Are My Friends’ fall/winter collection is on its way:

As the alphabet is the first audiovisual recording system we are dedicating our program from october till december to the tight and beautiful relation of Type & Sound.

A lot has been written and published in the last years about the crosslink relationship between the audio and the visual. The movement of VJs, Graphic- and Motion Designers that no longer just stick to their profession as visual artists but see their design role directly linked to space and sound.

The design process of music and visual art in the digital age is becoming an unified approach and results in new inspirations for both disciplines. With ‘Type & Sound’ we will feature three outstanding typographic projects of information architecture, generative instrument design and visualmusic that visualmusic that gently flatter a combination of applied audiovisual typography. Surprise, surprise! So let's start.

Lecturing: A day in my past

– About Me, My Work & Motion Design

I'm very happy to say, that I did a lecture day in Wiesbaden at the Hochschule RheinMain for the Fachbereich Design Informatik Medien last december. (See the poster I did for announcing the lecture at the university here).

It was about me, my work and my experience as an art director for motion design and this field. About its nice sites and problems in general.

During my journey by train, I prepared this talk and conclused a really intense overview about my life in this world so far:

How I end up where I am, my influences and backgrounds, I put together all the stations, I passed, and things and disciplines accompanying me for years, ... - and suddenly all made sense to me.
So it was really reflective and personally worth to do! Later, because the students asked for a handout, I gave them my 3 page long, scribbled infografic... I really had to smile:) -

We rescheduled this months bash due to a rubbish july, formerly known as summer, and would be very pleased to see as many of you as possible on the new date. Put Wednesday the 3rd of August in your calendars, schedules and muttihefte.

There's going to be a proper BBQ. With a grilling and a typografic challenge (to put all the little accent marks right in place) involving Ćevapčići [tɕɛv̞ǎːpi], the Balkans favorite meat dish (also in a vegetarian version). If that's not good enough for you, come for the super secret surprise guests of the Graffiti Research Lab Germany or our lovely new facade painted by the amazing boys of PEACHBEACH.

Pitch for Visuals, 2011

I have been asked to pitch a visual concept for the 10 Years Vice Jubile Live Event 2006 in Berlin.
Only restriction: including mainsponsor playstation's 'WHITE' ADs-Campaign.

Here is my step-by-step Tutorial:

Hooking Up a Vice-BirthdayBash-Style:

- creating unique handmade collages of xeroxed vice-pictures (found web-vice footage- no matter what quality!) and mix them up with xeroxed playstation high res ad images. Xerox them again...paint over them again with custom lettering and additional icons and scribbles.

- dominant black/white style combined with colored/neon highlights

- animate this collages with vvvv- patches reacting on sound and luminance

- adding gradients, 3D-perspective and soundreactivity.

In the end, they decided to have a fixed video installation and no live visuals. So they canceled it. Anyway, they loved the style.

MEEK FM

– A Typo-Synthesizer by Rob Meek

This is why we love our selfemployment! A to the V morning session.
Joining at 10.30 in the morning a private livingroom performance with a bunch of students from Weissensee at Rob Meek's place and getting a live performance and interactive talk about his amazing work.

He is an inventor of a typographic Synthesizer called Meek FM, which he developped with Frank Müller (the FM) from 2001 to 2004.

The Meek FM was set up in a dark room, connected to a projection and waited for been used. Rob build this AV synthesizer with a really beautiful wooden case and a metal surface. Sure, he startet with an A. By clicking a button, he could choose screened font and letter. Then he startet to scroll the knots and buttons and explained a bit. Wow! Sounds and looks like fun.

With tweaking the typefaces you are also tweaking the audio, as we know it from a synthesizer. This is shown by a continually moving playhead (red thing in the pix). Height, length, curves, serifs, opacity, details, thickness, perspective, some sinebased effectmodes and a bunch of other parameters can be modulated by this midicontroller speaking with a reaktor synth interface. The visual backend is based on some sort of FlashPatch transcoding illustrator curves. You can switch between wireframe mode and plain texture shading. Also at any moment uring playing a letter, you can switch to the alphabeth-mode, where you see what the whole alpabeth would look like. Have a look on the Link, for seeing a demo. You definitely should see it moving!

Would be great to implement some things, like exporting these live created fonts or adapting some acoustic samples for example. But it is a great piece already.. and was way before its time, I would say. Applause to its inventors.

Rob Meek, who also created fontstruct, and Frank Müller developped this amazing piece of user xperience for the Typo 2004, where they did a talk and performance. Since that time, it's put in a shelf and waits for next steps.
Meek.FM would be a perfect installation for Letters Are My Friends: Let's give it a try, Rob.

Since end of last year Chichirik and Nindustrict are working on
this musicvideo for TaprikkSweezee’s VOLT on his ‘poly ep’.

We wanted to work realtime and with a dancer, other than do animations, as we do usually.
The rest was a hand-in-hand inspired set creation, actiondriven shooting on two days on a really amazing location with 300 lemons. All followed by some Berlin-Hamburg-Berlin-Hamburg-harddrive-transfer-kits and editing sessions.

On 4th June we finally released it online and the night before we had a realworld-premiere-screening at Letters Are My Friends in Berlin,
where we showed VOLT, along 4 other videos we did and TaprikkSweezee performed live.

We did a small DVD edition, where it is explained like that:

"Awoken from polyethylene dreams the brimstone butterfly escapes from its illuminated cocoon. Following the rite and the choreography of its inner transformation it strives towards the neon. With the help from magic clothing on its journey it finally reaches the fruit of its evolvement.
In the musicvideo Volt visual artists Nindustrict and Chichirik unfold a soul labyrinth between mythic dramaturgy and a post-technoid fairy tale in 3500 cuts. The danish choreographer and dancer Signe Koefoed skips and flackers like a moth character through the inner space of a metamorphic creature."

Bei Letters Are My Friends fokussieren Typographie in Kombination mit neuen Technologien. Type'n'Tec.
Das ist ein breites, junges und sehr spannendes Feld, dem wir Raum in unserem Showroom geben:
im Rahmen von kleinen Ausstellungen, Installationen, Feldstudien und regelmässigen Events rund um die relevanten Themenbereiche.

Wir verstehen Typographie als kleinsten gemeinsamen Nenner von so vielen Gestaltungsrichtungen, in denen wir uns bewegen,
daher nehmen wir das als Startpunkt von dem unsere Projekte ausgehen.

The Horn's are running a KiteSurfing School on Cape Cod in the USA.

They live for the waves.

They commissioned me to create their Wedding invitations and gave a perfect brief: Love birds meet the sea! WOW.
I developped elements of the package as illustrations made with water colors. And wanted to personalize in a typemanner: mixed typeface Drone with customized lettering of my handwriting.

The whole package were five pages with partial UV lacquer on the illustrations.

A beautiful project with a lovely client. If you ever think of learn kiteboarding: I highly recommand them!

Prototypenstudie 3/3 / Promotional Clips, 2011

Nindustrict has been commissioned to develop a MotionDesign Image campaign based on the target audience of komoot. This company specializes in online and mobile navigation technology for the special needs of outdoor-people.

So we came up with the main characters and the whole concept for everything you hear and see in this clips. It is a young and fresh company, so we decided to abstract the look of nature and people. Of course we included the free-komoot app aswell as the routing system, which is their core-technology. We worked 2-3 months on this production, with a great team, amazing colaborators and a dream client.

Corporate Tape Design for ITB, 2011

For their booth at the world's leading travel trade show ITB in Berlin, komoot commissioned me for the corporate look and feel. Around 20 square meters next to the vodafone world, where two screens connected to their online application were set up for interactive use by the audience and a monitor screening komoot's three prototyping clips, I did 2010, catching their eyes in the entrance.

Due to the facts it's all about routing technologies for people outdoor active, we decided to include some tape-art-'tracks' connected to their corporate including icons.

These are some photographs I took for letters are my friends' website out of my kitchen.

Nothing is artifically set up. Everything is taken how it looks there.

The 'Keyframe' tape-design, I did myself, while the collage in the first picture is made out of a bunch of catalogues and magazine grafics combined with taped lasercut snippets (action). I guess the rest is selfexplaining. I'm proud having an original Danny Gretscher in my kitchen, everyone should have!

L32 an art, culture and living project in Berlin Neukölln, where I lived at these days, participated in the 24h Neukölln Festival 2008. Therefor I came up with the NO FAME TODAY piece I did with a bunch of tapes and other materials.

Mymo from Mymonsters colaborated on the left and on the right side with her monsters. A illustrated sitespecific wall piece over two floor was the result. And it is still there on the wall! Good tape! If you wanna see it: Go to Lichtenraderstrasse 32, 2.HH, 2./3. Floor.

Art & Clipdirection for a Dancing Show, 2009

This is a test compositing Nindustrict created 2008 for a dancing show called fuego performed with 80 dancers, 60 moving projectors and 16meter high projection screens on the strip of Las Vegas.

We have been commissioned to assist in art direction and producing a couple of scenes on location in Las Vegas, embedded into a real show production and all the backround happenings.
After 2 month, coming back to Berlin the job turned into a fullservice producion: we produced, designed and animated whole scenes, which wasn't easy at all caused by the distance and the realtime-delay over there.

Due to the fact that there were permanently chances in projection formats and stages, we decided to come up with a library of elements for a underwater world, and do a realtimecompositing within the mediamanager, which was controlling the timing and effects of the projectors.

This really huge project with this tons of flexible parameters made it a real experience, as well as working in Las Vegas on the strip.

I had some great colaborators with felixkoziol, with who I joined forces for my scenes (not thisone) and the amazing talented people at grosse8, who did the rest:) (in this clip: the metal strings). Thanks a lot!

Trailer for Design Conference, 2009

Together with Andreas Koller from Strukt, I concepted, designed and animated the trailer for design conference TocaMe 2009.

Strukt was invited to speak at the conference and install the interactive table Struktable in the exhibition area.
The music was composed and produced by The Metronome.

At TOCA ME Design Conference in Munich, international renowned speakers were invited to deliver insight into their work. The speakers included Joshua Davis (USA), Bradley Munkowitz alias Gmunk (USA), Jeremy Thorp (Canada), Joel Gethin Lewis (UK), Jason Levine of Adobe (USA) and Strukt, who all talked about the topic.

Visual Music Clip, 2008

Franz Former and me made this Type'n'Motion musicvideo. It is for Ex-Funkstörung's member Michael Fakesch's DOS Album 2007, where the voice in this tracks belongs to Taprikk Sweezee. It is synchronized on lyrics and soundscapes and done in a couple of days.

It has been published and curated as VIDOS DVD by fluctuating images, and is shown around the world on many visualmusic festivals.
The whole DVD-Package, with all tracks visualized by many videoartists is created by Sebastian Onufszak from In Grafics We Trust.

2006 I did the artwork and on air packaging for 458nm with the guys from polynoid.
I designed the titles and the credits and animated it in a poetic but also 'snailish' way.

We produced posters, postcards and a DVD, where I was also responsible for the artdirection.

InstoreClips for HUGO BOSS I graded, composed and retouched 2007, which were shown in the Hugo Boss Orange store in Münzstrasse, Berlin.

The whole photo campaign was shot by Peter Lindbergh with BoyGeorge and the girl from Sin City, Davon Aoki.
The videomaterial was just processed out of making of material during the photo shooting. So the quality was not that good.

Short / split in 10 Episodes & Portfolio DVD- Package, 2007

On the first sight Goldkyd is an experimental short concepted, directed, animated, edited and styled by and for Nindustrict.
The intension of this short, is to be embedded as conceptual part of a whole DVD-package. - A Portfolio-DVD-Package for Nindustrict, including Package, CI, Flyer & tons of portfolio-works.

This was my master piece, I did at the filmacademy Baden-Württemberg 2007.

Thesis: An experimental short conceptionally used as identity-given piece embedded on a MotionDesignPortfolio - DVD.

Focus for this DVD was the embedded shortfilm, containing 10 'ego-episodes' which stand as alter-ego of Nindustrict. Each episode is authored inbetween the motiondesign works on the DVD.

Background:
A portfolio is usually seen as a best-of-skillz-archive aswell as a batch processing of the past, still there are very few dealing with the personality and the individual world behind the 'production heads'.
The aim of this film is to personalize a Portfolio in such a special way, that the world behind the production heads - the unique ID of the maker- appeals to the viewer. An experimental short used as an image clip.

That was the main idea of the shortfilm, establishing an Alter-Ego-character: Split in 10 episodes, Lysander has to conserve his past for restore himself. By killing his 'darlings' and rediscovering things & familiar surroundigs defining him, he finally recovers his own center.
This short is highly connected to a symbolic use of objects related to the 'good' present and the 'bad' past, Lysaner, the protaglonist, is sourrounded with.

Embedded colorcodes connect to his personality: all golden things Lysander deals with are standing for the pretending 'shining' past, he is peeling of, all turquoise things standing for the good, relieved and grounded present and future he is turning to more and more.

Based on the pictures the design for the opener animation, the credits, the DVD-Menues and all the Typography was done by Nindustrict. Even the cover stitching.
The DVD-Cover is made of different silkscreened fabrics, the Logo is embroidered on top in gold, brown metallic and turquoise colour. The DVD itself is golden.

2007 I was part of a 'around the world' documentary by Lukas Ullrich and Thilo Frank.
Together with Ben Braun, who did the amazing edit out of 50 DV tapes, we were fixed parts of the team from the very beginning. I artdirected the whole piece, developed the CI, did the on air packaging and animation, titles, credits and stickers.
Ben Braun did also a interactive webtour and therefor an amazing motiondesigntrailer.

Titles have been animated, aswell as a bunch on bumpers during the film prompting kind of "10 commandments" and the credits.

Long time ago, we have been asked if we would like to produce, design and animate a oneminute track of Populous' Dub Driver exclusively created for and published on the Videominuto Compilation 2005.

So KE4 aka Philipp Rahlenbeck and me did. This track has also been published on our famous MUTATENLIEBE DVD 2005. Ask for more details and a copy.

It happend that we have been on a portuguese island (Isla Deserta) southern of Faro in holidays, when we accept this commission.
Eventually we included some pictures taken on this really dry island. In progress, our office became a hotellobby in Faro and finally we uploaded our work after 1 day WIFI via a VISA Paid operair network connection in the public park. Was a great adventurous working pipeline we experienced.

We were commissioned by Pulver Recordsto produce a corporate image DVD for an exhibition at the Swatch store in Berlin, 2005.
We remixed all their record artworks into a single 30 minutes VJ mix by using VVVV, Flash & After Effects Animations.

Romy Steyer ask me back in 2005 to artwork on her documentary about this really crazy guy Lothar from Sangerhausen who drove all by bike through the DDR and was really known there as one of the first delivery services in this region..also because he was able to imitate the sounds of buses typespecific!!!
